The Paramount Chow Chows – Jeffrey & Susie Sedillos

Thank you for visiting our website and the interest you have in our breeding program. My Father, Roy Sedillos introduced me to my first Chow Chow when I was eight years old and two years later in 1964 at the age of ten, I began sharing my life with a chow. In 1973 I married my wife and best friend Susie. We have shared a love and interest in this wonderful breed, and a large part of our lives have been dedicated to breeding and exhibiting Chows that we believe represent the American standard; sound in mind and body, and true Chow type, i.e., what the Chow was originally bred for; hunting, herding, protection and companionship. To measure our success we show our dogs from the Bred By class primarily at either the National Specialty or Regional specialties. The large majority of our champions have received many of their championship points at National or Regional Specialties and accompanying shows.

In the beginning

From the start our mission was to combine American (Pandee - Dr. Imogene Earle & Dr. JoAnne S. O’Brien), English (Ukwong - Eric & Joan Egerton) and Dutch (Van Mongolie - Henk & Kitty Van derVouw), all of which were in part based on dogs from the world famous Chang Shi Kennels of the Countess de Changy of Belgium. Our foundation bitch was Pandee’s Cimone of Paramount , Cimone, a gift to us from Dr. JoAnne S. O’Brien, was a tightly linebred bitch( COI 24.2%) on the large dark self red dog,BIS Ch. Pandee’s Jubilee. Jubilee(COI 2.34%) was a grandson of Int. Ch. Chang Shi Hong Kwong and the gorgeous black dog BIS Ch. Pandee’s Alpha Sing. Kwong( COI 7.03%) was linebred on Chang Shi Noch-Ka, Noch-Ka( COI 7.81%) was the sire of BIS Int & Eng Ch. Chang Shi Ukwong and Neth. Ch. Ki-Dong King. Alpha Sing (COI 23.44%) through his sire Ch. Pandee’s Red Rufus II, was linebred on the red English bitch, M’Lissa of Barwick(COI 19.53%) M’Lissa was linebred on Ch. Choonam To To, To To (COI 3.91%) was the sire of CH. Rochow Adjutant and the grandson of BIS Int Ch. Choonam Brilliantine of Manchoover.
Cimone was also doubled on the Dutch import Titus Pandee Van Mongolie. Titus (COI 5.47%) was also linebred on Chang Shi- Noch-Ka. So, Cimone was a granddaughter of CH. Pandee’s Meeko and Ch. Pandee’s Blu Cheese and her grand dams were a product of Jubilee daughters bred back to Titus. This pedigree provided us the foundation we were looking for; a combination of Pandee, Linnchow, Ukwong, Chang Shi and Van Mongolie bloodlines.

We then began to acquire dogs that would augment the phenotype and genotype that we had in Cimone.

Next we acquired Cabaret Halston, a homozygous black dog from Joan Richard. Halston (COI 37.5%) was a product of a mother son breeding, doubled on Ch. Pandee’s Blue Cheese(COI 17.97%) and linebred on the Ch. Audrich Black Orpheus, Orpheus ( COI 25.78%) was tripled on Ch. Pandee’s Silver Mug a full brother of Ch. Pandee’s Alpha Sing and linebred on BIS Ch. Yang Fu Tang (COI 31.25%), Yang Fu Tang was doubled on BIS Int Ch. Choonam Brilliantine of Manchoover. Halston’s Uncle was CH. Cabaret Candy Man.

We then acquired a bitch from Zola Coogan and Kathy Beliew, that we co-owned with our friends Harry and Lucille Gibney, Ch. Imagine’s Bearden Sheer Energy ROM, GiGi( COI 6.25%) was a granddaughter of BIS, BISS Ch. Teabear’s Cheese Whizz, ROM and BIS,BISS Ch. Wah-Hu’s Redcloud Sugar Daddy ROM. GiGi combined Pandee, Audrich, Yang Fu Tang and De La Moulaine bloodlines.

We had tried unsuccessfully to breed Cimone to Eng. Ch. Taibel Texas Tiger of Ukwong, the top producing Chow in England for several years. This led us to our next acquisition:

BIS, BISS Ch. Rebelrun’s Call to Glory ROM, Tommy, was a gift to us from Bob & Love Banghart. Tommy, was a four way outcross. His paternal grandsire Eng Ch. Taibel Texas Tiger of Ukwong , Tex( COI 11.72%) was linebred on BIS Eng CH Fairwood Fu Simba Fu Simba (COI 9.38%) was linebred on BIS Int & Eng Ch. Chang Shi Ukwong (COI 14.06%).Tommy’s paternal grand dam was Tamarin Sunrise Serenade,
Sara (COI 27.34% ) was linebred on BIS Ch. Pandee’s Alpha Sing and BIS Ch. Pandee’s Jubilee .
Tommy’s Maternal grandsire was BISS Ch. Jonel’s Track MacTavish, Mac(COI 4.69%) was a four way outcross, with emphasis on BIS BISS Ch. Ghat de la Moulaine, Ghat, Ghat (COI 6.25%) was also line bred on Chang Shi Noch-Ka. Mac’s dam was doubled on Ch. Audrich Black Orpheus and combined with an English bitch that was linebred on BIS Eng CH Fairwood Fu Simba . Tommy’s maternal grand dam Rebelrun Jenny Linn (COI 11.72%) was a combination of BIS Ch. Jo Jo Hanson, BIS Ch. Pandee’s Alpha Sing, BIS Ch. Ghat De La Moulaine and BIS Ch. Pandee’s Jubilee.

First steps

When we bred Pandee’s Cimone of Paramount to BIS, BISS Rebelrun’s Call to Glory,ROM , this produced our foundation dog CH. PARAMOUNT THE PILOT, OFA ROM. Pilot(COI 5.47%) was the product of our first breeding to combine Pandee, Chang Shi, Ukwong and Van Mongolie bloodlines and turned out to be the single most important contributing factor to establishing the Paramount bloodline.
Pilot is behind every dog we have brought forward in our breeding program and every dog in our kennel.

Next we bred Ch. Paramount the Pilot to Ch. Imagine Bearden Sheer Energy, this produced Ch. Bearden Captain Litefoot & Ch. Paramount Shenanigans, this dog and bitch would produce future stock for us, Bearden, Pendleton, Rebelrun and Royal Club.

Then we bred Cabaret Halston to Ch. Imagine Bearden Sheer Energy and this produced Bearden’s Miss B Haven, Missy would have a future impact for our kennel and Bearden,Pendleton and Rebelrun.
The foundation was in place.

A Break in the Action

When our sons were in high school, we took a short hiatus from breeding and found out how quickly the kennel had aged. Fortunately our friends had used some of our dogs and we began to rebuild our breeding stock. We had acquired Ch. Pendleton Paramount Keepsake( Angel ) from our friends Dave and Pat Foose, Angel was a stud puppy from the breeding of Ch. Rebelrun’s Call to Glory bred to BIS BISS CH. Pendleton’s King Arthur’s litter sister Pendleton Lady Gueneviere. Angel reinforced the concentration of Pandee, Van Mongolie and Chang Shi bloodlines. Pilot was an old dog by then and we bred Pilot to Angel and from this breeding, we got Paramount Simply Cosmopolitn(COI 18.75%).

We had sent Pilot offspring to Ben and Kitty Buurman from Holland, and in return we acquired Ch. Exquisite Sinner of the Royal Club. Sinner OFA, Sinner(COI 20.31%)was doubled on Huan Ho Van Mongolie and Luap Brown Sugar, Huan Ho was a combination of Pandee, Van Mongolie bloodlines and heavily influenced by Chang Shi Noch-Ka. Luap Brown Sugar was linebred on BIS Eng Ch. Fairwood Fu Simba . Sinner reinforced our concentration of Pandee, Ukwong, Chang Shi and Van Mongolie bloodlines.

From Bob and Love Banghart we acquired Rebelrun’s Precious Jewel OFA ROM, PJ (COI 21.09%) was a CH. Rebelrun Bacardi, OFA ROM daughter and doubled on three dogs; 1. Ch. Jonel’s Track MacTavish and 2. Ch. Paramount the Pilot and 3. Ch. Bu Dynasty the Judgement, Moses (COI 5.47%) linebred on BIS Eng. Ch. Fairwood FuSimba through his grandson BIS Eng Ch. Ukwong King Solomon. PJ also had Ch. Bearden Captain Litefoot, Bearden’s Miss BHaven and CH.Imagine Bearden’s Sheer Energy behind her. PJ produced three ROM daughters, CH. Paramount Undeniable, Ch. Paramount Ribbon in the Sky and Ch. Paramount Unforgettable.
CH. Paramount Undeniable(11.72%) when bred to BIS BISS Ch. Imagine the Big Easy(COI .78%) produced our second smooth champion, CH. Paramount Buzz Lite Year(COI 2.34%).
Additionally from Bob & Love we acquired and co-owned with Lucille Gibney, Rebelrun Sweet Success ROM, Trigger(COI 10.94%) was a Ch. Rebelrun Bacardi granddaughter and a combination of Pandee, Audrich, Redcloud and Ukwong bloodlines. When we bred Rebelrun Sweet Success ROM to Paramount Simply Cosmopolitn this produced Int Ch. Paramount Red Bandana & Ch. Paramount Autumn Glory OFA, ROM. Autumn(COI 14.84%) produced BISS Ch. Paramount Miss Independent(COI 27.34%), BISS Int Ch. Paramount Maria Maria(COI 3.91%) and BISS Int Ch. Paramount Stylish Smooth (COI 3.12%).

Moving Forward

The dogs we currently have in our kennel are based on the original stock and the above mentioned dogs.
About six years ago we became friends with Lonnie and Regina Burr and began co-breeding dogs. They bred Ch. Pepperland Lo- Re’ Quiet Storm ROM to the Pilot and produced Paramount Crown Royal, Ch. Lo- Re’ Pepperland Martina and BISS Ch. Lo- Re’ Pepperland Santana (COI 3.12%), Carlos was also the number five chow, defeating the greatest number of chows. Lonnie and Regina co-own BISS Ch. Paramount Miss Independent, KC was BOS at the CCCI National specialty twice and the number one Chow bitch and number two dog defeating the greatest number of Chow Chows. We bred KC to Ch. Paramount Buzz Lite Year and produced Paramount Angel Fire(Angel Fire, COI 10.16%) and Ch. Lo- Re’ Pepperland a Moment Like This(Kelli). These two bitches have Pilot behind them thirteen(13) times and represent our eighth consecutive generation of breeding. Angel Fire was WB and Best in Sweeps at the 100 th CCCI National Specialty and when bred back to her sire Ch. Paramount Buzz Lite Year, she gave two very beautiful puppies Paramount Smooth StarFire and Paramount SpitFire (COI 35.94%). Lonnie and Regina bred Kelli, Angel Fire’s sister to Paramount Simply Cosmopolitn and she produced two male puppies Lo-Re’ Pepperland Closer to my Heart and Paramount Just BeCoz( COI 21.09%).
We also co-own Ch. Paramount Ribbon in the Sky ROM (COI 15.62%)with Lonnie and Regina. Sky produced Best in Sweepstakes winner Ch. Paramount Johnnie Angel(COI 3.91%) and the group winning Ch. Lo- Re’ Pepperland Shades of Time(COI 7.03%). The work that Lonnie and Regina and their partner Jill Stillwell had done with the old Pandee and Linnchow bloodlines have combined very well with ours. In early 2007 we bred CH. Paramount Ribbon in the Sky and Int. Ch. Maria Maria to Ch. Paramount the pilot. Both bitches produced litters. Time will tell how they turn out.

A few words of thanks

We have had the wonderful experience of having received advice and counsel from Georgia Hanson, Joel Marston, Cliff and Vivian Shyrock, Eric and Joan Egerton, Paul and Minnie Odenkirchen, George Boulton and Marilyn Morgan, and we thank each one of them for spending time with us and sharing their knowledge and information about the dogs behind the dogs.

For the most part, the days of the 50-60 dog kennels are a thing of the past and as with any contemporary kennel, the ability to work with others provides the greatest opportunity for success. So our hats off to our friends the Banghart’s, Beliew’s, Burr’s, Buurman’s, Foose’s and Gibney’s for sharing dogs and working with us.
And a very special thank you to our friend and mentor, Dr. JoAnne S. O’Brien, for her willingness to share her vast knowledge and experience, provide guidance and counsel, words of support and encouragement and the gracious ability to agree to disagree as we have worked on establishing our bloodline.

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope you enjoy the pictures and pedigrees, they tell the story of The Paramount Chow Chows.
